There’s nothing I love more than a good binge session date night in. It doesn’t require leaving the house and its FREE. So call Ubereats or cook some Blue Apron and watch one of these ten shows during your next date night binge session:
- Master of None (Netflix)
This show became an unexpected favorite last year and I’ve binged watched it 3 times since them. Thankfully, the second season returns to Netflix tomorrow. Created and produced by Aziz Ansari, the show centers around an actor living in Brooklyn just trying to figure life out while eating pasta. Basically the most relatable show ever. The second season just came out so you have more episodes to watch. If you need more convincing check out my Master of None inspired post from last year.
- 13 Reasons Why (Netflix)
Some of you may be rolling your eyes at this suggestion and I don’t blame you. Yes, this show is controversial. Yes, the subject matter is dark and maybe not what you’d want to watch with bae or on a rainy day. However, there is something about this show that just pulls you in. Even if you hate it you have to watch it. It’s definitely a conversation starter.
- Married at First Sight (Lifetime)
I LOVE this show! I don’t remember how I discovered it but I’m glad I did. Two strangers get married without knowing anything about each other and leaving their lives up to some relationship “experts” and science. I’m here for it. Bonus: Watch Married at First Sight Second Chances with two previous participants whose marriages failed.
- Power (Starz)
*In my Joe voice* they say this is a big rich tooooown, yeaaaah, I just come from the poorest paaaart. The theme song alone is a reason to watch this show. Power has drugs, beautiful men and women, and steamy (somewhat awkward) sex scenes. Plus, you get the added bonus of 50 Cent being shady in Instagram. Issa win.
- Luke Cage (Netflix)
Marvel has been killing it with their Netflix programming. The show takes place in Harlem and features the Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali (aka bae), and Rosario Dawson. Even if you aren’t a fan of the comic book genre, you’ll like this show.
- House of Cards (Netflix)
This is the OG of Netflix so I don’t feel the need to try to convince you why you should watch it. The 5th season is available to stream now.
- Orange is the New Black (Netflix)
Another Netflix OG that will return next month. The last season ended with some controversy so definitely catch up before the next season is available to stream.
- Insecure (HBO)
If you’ve read her book or seen her YouTube series Adventures of Awkward Black Girl you’ll enjoy this show. Check out my recap of the first season here. Second season returns July 23.
- Game of Thrones (HBO)
I tried to hold out, I really did, but one night PJ and I were bored and decided to give Game of Thrones a try. We haven’t looked back since. I will warn you this show can get graphic (there’s A LOT of blood) but after the first few episodes you become numb to it.
- Man in the High Castle (Amazon)
I have an Amazon Prime account so I can order makeup wipes for the low and get them delivered in 2 days. I didn’t realize I was missing out on some quality shows! Man in the High Castle had us hooked from the first episode. The show is based in an alternate reality where the Axis powers win World War II and the Nazi’s basically run the world. Unfortunately we watched this after the inauguration and the shows premise felt a little too real. Other than that, I think you’ll enjoy it.
